Original!

history

The Original Sales brochure from Pontiac in 1966 states: “Ventura shows you how easy it is to surround yourself with luxury without spending a fortune. Case in point: built on the 121-inch Wide-Track wheelbase, the Ventura offers as its primary inducement an exceptionally luxurious interior plus a lot of trim features you would ordinarily pay more for. When you order the Turbo Hydra-Matic, it comes teamed with the 290-hp V-8 and an extremely low axle ratio for quiet cruising and maximum economy. This four-door sedan features expanded “Morrokide” interior.” Anyone who has owned an early GM muscle car knows how durable the original Sixties vinyl material was. Pontiac called it Morrokide, but it's really Naugahyde. It is almost bulletproof with normal wear, and many survivor cars that were cared for over the years can still have the original upholstery, like this model. Further the brochure states: ”The carpeting is nylon blend loop pile. The dash is fully padded and trimmed in a distinctive leather grain effect. And then, the finishing touches are things like fender skirts, special emblems, deluxe interior mouldings and deluxe wheel covers. It makes you feel rich just looking at a Ventura.” This particular, extremely-well-cared-for vehicle has a full documentation of owners and repairs which is very rare to find. The car was purchase originally on 20th November in 1965 by a certain Mr. Robert M. Sloan, living at that time in Pennsylvania. Records show a note of Mrs. Sloan giving the well kept car as a gift to her son, Mr. Robert C. Sloan. He was residing at that time in Ohio. He intended to give this car further to his son who tragedly died in an accident before he could enjoy this car. Therefore it was auctioned off to a Mr. John F. Schambre in Palm Springs, California in November 2018. The recods also include a document of him stating that he purchased the car with 38.000 ORIGINAL miles on it and spent around 7000$ in repairs and updates (a complete check list of the repairs is inculded as well). The car was then auctioned off to a German US. classic dealer who brought the car into Germany in 2020. This is where I found the car and it finally made its way to me in a great condition. Since then the car is been registered in Germany. I am driving it on special occasions and in nice wheather conditions, have it regularly inspected and certified by German TÜV for driving it safely on EU roads. I never had any problems with the car, nor did I have to do any repairs. Evertime I am stepping into this classic time-machine, I am amazed how well everything works and what condition it is in, although 90% of the car is still all ORIGINAL. What an awesome ride!
